Jean Shrimpton is her name and I can only guess that you have heard one or two things about her. She was an iconic girl of the 1960s swinging London scene and till today the sixties aficionados simply can’t put her out of their minds… The fashionistas also adore her; Shrimpton is largely responsible for the mini skirt frenzy of the 60’s. It happened unexpectedly upon her appearance in Melbourne back in 1965. She shocked the puritans and she opened the doors to the mini skirt… heaven for all of the young girls that desired simply to look sexy!

Looking at the photo above, I feel naturally happy; Jean and a Mini. Jean is sitting on a Mini somewhere around London probably, definitely before the end of the golden decade. Everything seems to be there, nothing has been left outside; the image is complete. I love Mini; the car above is not a MINI Cooper for sale anymore but rather a reminder of the good old “Mini swinging London” days. I don’t get sad; I love retro as much as I love what’s up to date. Jean as she grew old she chose a life away from the spotlights but many other inspiring and much alive personalities shine exactly as we speak. And Mini is doing quite ok I would say; if one thinks of the Mini 4x4 range any reasonable doubt can disappear at once!
